The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) comprise 17 categories defined by the United Nations. These objectives are the basis for sustainability strategies. The European Union has drawn up rules known as the EU Taxonomy, which determine what activities are considered sustainable. This regulation covers about 70 different activities, which are considered in 6 categories. The definition of sustainable activities applies across Europe and it is recommended to carry out screening to plan the KPIs of the proportion of sustainable activities and identify where there are conflicts with requirements.

In addition, a new reporting framework is being prepared so that companies report their data uniformly and comparisons can be made.

Evaluation criteria are often an internal matter for the credit rating company, but one can prepare for the topics and documents they evaluate. Data collection takes place on the basis of public sources, so a degree of transparency is important.
